The confidence of all at Demerara Distillers that they had a superb product to bring to the markets of the world was soon confirmed. Within a year of launching the brand into the International markets the gold medal of the International Wine & Spirits Competition in 1998 was awarded to El Dorado Special Reserve 15 Year Old Rum. It won again in 1999 and once more in 2000. In addition to a hattrick of gold medals from International Wine and Spirits Competition, The El Dorado 15 year Old Special Reserve also won the prestigious Wray and Nephew Trophy in each of the years 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2001.
